Most of our clients are called upon to plan events and programs for their organizations on a regular basis.  At times finding inspiration for making those occasions memorable can be challenging.  Following is a collection of ideas for Employee Incentive Programs:

A biotech firm was offering an incentive trip to Alaska, but wanted to provide recipients with a tangible product as well that would remind them of trip when used in the future and to show them they are valued.  At the start of the trip each person received a premium thermos and mug set carrying the company’s logo. ESI hosted the “Light Up With Innovation” dinner to honor their engineers for their latest patents.  When the group arrived at the restaurant, each place setting illuminated the darkened room with a customized laser pointer with magnetic base and clip.  Light boxes spotlighted featured speakers and centerpieces were fiber optic. Sanitation workers in South Dakota are recognized at informal monthly awards ceremonies to recognize those that have avoided accidents for that period.  Gifts have ranged from small coolers to drink ware and laser engraved crystal.  (Ad Specialties Across America, May 2009)

An aerospace manufacturer disseminated motivational facts and information to their employees by holding an electronic weekly raffle.  Each employee was given a US flag dog tag with a PIN (personal identification number) on the back.  Each employee was instructed to log onto the company’s website each week to see if they had won a prize.  The information they wanted to communicate was presented before the person could enter their PIN, and claim their prize. (Advantages, February 2011)

Working through an industry manufacturer, Toyota commissioned an artist to craft original fused glass platters mounted on wooden stands to recognize their top 50 dealerships.  (Advantages, December 2009)

Each winner of an IBM incentive trip to Bermuda was given a digital camcorder upon arrival on the island to capture their trip memories.  Each night the guests received gifts such beach bags, Bermuda cheese boards, rum jam and signed prints of the resort carrying the company logo.  And, at the end of the trip each person received a custom gold charm of the event logo. Diebold held its Masters Circle program in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where recipients were given “Diebold Dollars” to spend at a customized artisan market.  Vendors at the market entertained with spirited competition to get attendees to spend their funny money at their booth.  The next day the guests were outfitted in biker gear and photographed on a Harley with fake tattoos.  Other event gifts included a custom luggage tag for identification at the airport, a welcome food basket, and a beach bag with the company logo.  (Counselor, October 2009)

Another company hosted its annual incentive trip in Washington, DC themed “Spy Capital of the World.”  Tours included the Watergate Building, International Spy Museum and former presidential yacht, USS Sequoia.  The dinner event recreated a White House State Dinner on a rooftop overlooking the actual White House.  Gifts ranged from mini-maps of the Washington, DC area and patriotic lapel pins to presidential cuff links for the men and matching scarves for the ladies.  (Counselor, October 2009)
